I have been toying with the idea of buying a license for some time now I've been using the Community Edition. I'm honestly on the fence about what I'll do. And I love the overall feel of using the IDE. IntelliJ was a learning curve for me, but I went to it for a side project a buddy and me have started and I love it! Git just works! Maven works beautifully.
Merging branches, merging commits into the same branch that someone else already pushed changes to nothing ever worked right or smooth. That just really worked well for me.īut I could not stand the Git integration. I love the organization of Workspaces and Projects and from any project you can import any other project. I mean, those tools will save you time, time = money, so It kinda makes sense. I mean, when my head got a little bit cooler, I still think that even with bit higher price, It is worth it! I am still against this paying plan, I hate it! BUT because I cannot go back to Eclipse nor NetBeans I will use and pay for IDEA when I can! I am student ATM, writing open source and education code, so I still have free access to those, but when I think of established developer who gets payed for it's code $150/$250 a year is not a lot. Android Studio? Not sure about this, if it could pull of my non-Android related Java stuff why not. Eclipse? Hell no, better sent me to prison. I see a lot of people saying they will move away from IDEA, yeah, but where? NetBeans? Hmm not sure. Even if I pay for one year license I do not feel like I own the software that I bought. I have to say I am a bit disappointed by the latest move from JetBrains.
